I appreciate Philatelia's position among the hobbies. One can be interested in sports, but the main trends seem to be shared among the individual sports (basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, hockey) than in athleticism in general. Stamp collecting is the interest as well as the hobby itself. Quite economical in the mindspace there as well. In other words, you can directly collect the thing you are studying. With sports, you can take an interest without participating in the sport itself, and I've also sparred with boxers who weren't interested in the sport outside of its practice (styles, fighters, major fights, etc.).
I'm seeing Philatelia also lends itself to writing about it.
